It is my honor and privilege to welcome you all to this platform.
The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) plays a key role in healthcare delivery and addressing health impacts related to residency training in Nigeria. Over the years NARD has ensured to be an integral part of health care development in Nigeria and we have been able to do this through:
Advocacy for Better Working Conditions - NARD advocates for better working conditions for resident doctors, which can directly affect their physical and mental health, as well as the quality of patient care. Improved working conditions will also help to address ‘JAPA syndrome’ currently being witnessed in Nigeria.
Policy Influence - NARD engages in discussions with relevant Federal government agencies, state governments, Nigerian Medical Association, other policymakers and stakeholders to influence healthcare reforms that can lead to better health delivery for the citizenry.
Public Health Programs - Through The Doctor's Reach Out Program (TDROP), NARD has been able to bring health closer to the people by participating in public health campaigns and initiatives like Medical Outreach, promoting awareness and preventive measures for various health issues.
Research and Development - Our Journal, Nigerian Journal of Medicine (NJM) provides research works that are relevant to healthcare and has served as a source of academic information for a more pragmatic approach in medical practice.
Mental Health Support - Recognizing the stress and burnout associated with residency training, NARD provides resources and programs focused on mental health support for its members.
Training and Medical Education - The organization has a medical education unit where residents receive comprehensive training that ultimately impacts health outcomes.
This platform will therefore serve to provide to the public health information and health impact from the Leadership of Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors through bright ideas, dauntless commitment, bold leadership, Advocacy and Networking.
